The brand new 2020 RAM 1500 truck series have a wide array of towing options and capabilities. There are four different engine options, which cater to the driver’s needs and towing capacities will vary, depending on what you need your RAM 1500 to withstand. You’re sure to be impressed with this pickup truck’s fuel efficiency, regardless of the trim level you order. However, depending on your truck’s build, the towing capacities will differ. You must consider cab size, box length, wheel drive system and engine size before committing.

Towing Capabilities

How you build and enhance your truck will affect the way it drives and the way it tows. For example, the smaller the cab size you choose, the more weight your truck can carry. Limiting or eliminating passenger seats will allow the vehicle’s gross weight to be allocated to the towing capacity and payload. The box length is similar in this regard. The smaller the box length, the more weight your truck can tow. Consider the 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn Quad Cab model, for example. When optioned as a 2-wheel drive, this permits a higher towing capacity. 4-wheel drives are heavier overall, so towing capability will be lower. However, the drive will be smoother, safer and make you feel more in control.

Engine Options

The RAM 1500 pickup line introduced four different engines to choose from, making each truck customizable to the driver’s specifications. Joe Maus Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram told us can choose 3.0L EcoDiesel V6, which boasts an impressive 260 horsepower and 480 lb.-ft of torque. This engine can provide a total of 12,560 lbs of towing capacity. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine produces 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft of torque, allowing for a maximum of 7,730 lbs. The 5.7L HEMI V8 engine boasts 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft of torque with maximum towing capacity reaching 11,610 lbs and finally, the 5.7 HEMI V8 engine with eTorque offers 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft of toque, maxing out at 12,750 lbs. Regardless of which engine you choose, the 2020 RAM 1500 truck offers a powerful and high quality product that will get the job done.
