At the 2019 North American International Auto Show, Subaru Tecnica International gave us all a nice surprise! They unveiled the limited-edition STI S209, which is their most powerful model ever. This is the very first S-line STI product that has been produced for the U.S. market, which makes it a major milestone in Subaru’s history. This car gives you engine modifications, upgraded aerodynamics and handling, and even ups the ante on driver engagement. East Hills Subaru of Roslyn, NY says you’ll have to act quickly with the STI S206, as there is a limited production run of this car of around 200 units. This means they are rare and powerful, and nothing is more exciting than that.


The biggest draw to a vehicle like the 2019 Limited Edition STI S209 is what has been modified underneath the hood. You’ll be pleased to see that the legendary 2.5-liter turbocharged BOXER engine has been reworked into a legendary configuration that is going to give you the power you are looking for. Thanks to an STI turbocharger that is manufactured by HKS, this engine can pump out around 341 horsepower. This number is so impressively high thanks to a larger compressor and turbine, along with a max boost pressure that was increased to 18.0 psi. The BOXER engine makes use of forged pistons and connecting rods and bumps the midrange torque up by 10%.


Paired with the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine is one exclusive transmission. This transmission is a close-ratio six-speed manual, which is able to route all of the power to the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. This system includes Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control, Active Torque Vectoring, a Driver Controlled Center Differential, and front and rear limited-slip differentials. To give you even more control over the STI S209, you’ll have access to an SI-Driver system, which offers Intelligent, Sport, and Sport Sharp modes. For circuit driving, the engineers suggest flipping over to Sport.

Body Changes:

In order to turn the STI S209 into an even more formidable car, Subaru has made sure to not just change the engine but to bolster the entire system with a unique exterior. Much of the inspiration put into this car came directly from the WRX STI Nurburgring Challenge racecar. The S209, therefore, gets an expanded wide-body treatment, which creates an overall width of 72.4 inches. This car also features bulging fenders and summer-only tires that are wrapped around 19 x 0-inch alloy wheels. These tires were exclusively developed by Dunlop for the S209, and are a main contributor to the maximum lateral grip. As for braking, the S209 gets Brembo brakes that include 6-piston monoblock front calipers, and 2-piston monoblock rear calipers.
